Galerie Ernst Hilger
Oliver Dorfer
Different parameters, linked innovatively to each other, characterize Oliver Dorfer’s new works: in the creation process he combines traditional and currently available techniques and, at the build-up of his individual set of motifs, concentrates on regulating elements that are disparate and deriving from most divers sources into one plausible composition. Computer-assisted, he arranges the image layout his work is built upon, based on hand sketches and with additional image matter that comes from his archive or which he has found on the internet or while studying various print media. In this way, Dorfer constructs narrative artworks, engineered between aggression and melancholy, latent threat and irony, whose details, disintegrating, melting into one another or rigorously separated, all claim attention individually.

Galerie Ernst Hilger
Galerie Ernst Hilger (founded 1971) represents the works of artists such as Erró and Mel Ramos, along with exponents of Austrian modernism from the 1950s onward and the main exponents of the most important international art movements of the 20th century. The contemporary department Hilger NEXT assembles those positions and provides artists from cutting-edge countries with a platform. The gallery’s labour has been rewarded through the participation of its artists in important international exhibitions and biennales like the Biennale di Venezia: Erik Binder (2001), Ivana Franke (2007), Ivan Moudov (2007), Cameron Platter (2013) Simon Vega (2013), Ángel Marcos (2013) and Peterson Kamwathi (2017).
