CONTRADITIONS Esther Stocker (Italy, 1974) expresses herself in lines, grids and right angles in the non-colors black and white. She belongs to a contemporary generation of artists working from the geometric constructivist tradition, but with her own perspective and philosophy. Through her work, the artist explores relationships and structures and tries to relate to the contradictions that occur in life. 
The disturbances Stocker creates in her tight grids raise questions about the relationship between order and chaos, reality and fiction, foreground and background, precision and elusiveness, certainty and ambiguity. In doing so, the artist invites the viewer to reflect on the systems and structures in society that consciously and unconsciously organize and direct us. Stocker: „In my paintings, installations and sculptures, I want to describe the ambiguity and uncertainty of a system. Founded in 1996 in Lichtensteinstraße KROBATH (former Galerie Krobath Wimmer) has been located in Palais Eschenbach since 1999, where it functions as a vital part of the noted Viennese Gallery-Quarter Eschenbachgasse. KROBATH is known as a venue for presenting, discussing and exploring contemporary art movements. The gallery’s exhibitions and contributions to international art fairs focus on promoting Austrian artists as well as international positions.The gallery concentrates on painting, photography, sculpture and video, dealing with the various concepts of space, architecture, urban living and modern society. From 2009 to 2015, KROBATH ran a noted branch in Berlin, KROBATH BERLIN. The gallery’s program has won the Gallery Award of the City of Vienna seven times, most recently in 2020.
